Well, where are thing? I am sure that the thousands of you are fascinated. OK. I am.
There are still seven submissions in various queues. Three of them are fairly large-scale contests. Then there’s Duotrope.com. If you’re a writer, you absolutely want to make use of Duotrope. But there’s a downside – the statistics. Duotrope is first and foremost, a massive database. When I submit to a market, I take the extra time to fill out a submission report. When I get a decision, I update that record. So do a lot of others. And it’s these statistics that are making me crazy right about now.
ABNA, for example. 12 writers reported to Duotrope. there are 4 of us who survived the cut.
The next two contests have the following lines:
34 entered, 34 remaining. I think this contest will just name one winner, instead of pruning the herd one by one. I have no idea where I stand here.
19 entered, 6 remaining. This one has me really puzzled. Have they not gotten to me yet? Or have I made it past a first cut? I’ll find out in a week or so, and I will keep you posted.
EDIT: Never mind. The winners were announced on the webpage, not via email. And I’m not one of them. Ah, well. Back to the grindstone.
