Some nice things have happened.
1. I finally finished that extremely difficult story for an anthology. I was three-quarters of the way through writing a second when I re-read the submission guidelines. No multiple submissions! Gahhh! So the second story sits. I will get back to it sometime, I promise.
2. With eight days to go, I said, oh why not go for it. It’s only a penny a word, but what the hey, let’s give it a shot. OK, this story is about…..<spaz>. The subconscious tossed up a variety of ideas, and eventually, I got one and ran with it. Unfortunately, around the same time, I contracted such a bad upper repiratory infection I spent all night hacking. No sleep. Even had to take sick days. Miserable, and no writing was getting done, either. Well, today, everything is five thousand degrees outside, so it was time to stay indoors and get it done. Finished around dinnertime, printed it, and The Wonderful Wife proofed it. Just finished it and sent it out. This means I am back up to five submissions in the queue.
3. I’ve been invited to write for Fresh Ink. (http://fresh1nk.wordpress.com/). This will be fun. However, only stories that will never be sold will appear in Fresh Ink. Why? Suppose I put in a scene from 1 or 2, above. That means that I have given away my First Electronic Publishing Rights. Normally, I have no problem doing that if I cannot sell the story elsewhere (usually because it is a story for a unusually themed anthology that was not accepted) I think my first couple of posts will be about the Business of Writing before I put in anything creative.
Thanks, everyone, for reading this blog. Don’t be shy, please comment.
